ITB and Huawei Collaboration Again with Huawei ICT Academy Program

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has once again collaborated with PT Huawei Tech Investment regarding the Huawei ICT Academy program. The MoU was virtually signed directly by ITB Rector Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., and IRO EBG Channel Director of PT Huawei Tech Investment, Liu Yongyi, Tuesday (17/5).

Before signing the collaboration, the Rector had the opportunity to present the ITB and Huawei collaboration journey. In the previous Huawei ICT Academy program, ITB was selected as Excellent University in 2020.

The Rector stated that ITB had been a partner of Huawei for more than 10 years and had maintained its enthusiasm in learning Huawei technology during that period. With 7 certified instructors, just during 2020-2021, ITB had trained more than 400 students about Huawei technology and courses such as Routing and Switching and cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence and had reached a higher graduation rate compared to other universities.

“On 2021, in order to support Huawei’s activities, ITB was forwarded as the Academic Support Center or ASC,” Prof. Reini stated.

This collaboration with Huawei first started in 2010 with the signing of the Huawei ICT Academy MoU and was resumed in 2018. There were several activities carried out, among them being training for instructors (HCNA Cloud), Seeds for the Future, Tech-Day, and training for HCNA Routing Switching trainers.

Other programs run jointly between ITB and Huawei also support the Kampus Merdeka Program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, such as internships and certified independent studies. "This program aims to increase the competitiveness of postgraduate students by implementing Project Based Learning," she explained.

In addition, ITB and Huawei also did the Digital Talent Scholarships Program from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. This program aims to provide additional competencies for postgraduate students by providing the opportunity to obtain International Certifications.

The Rector said that the program run by Huawei is very important for improving the ability of students in the technology, information, and communication field. Due to that, she thanked Huawei for providing the students a place to learn about applied ICT in today's industrial world.

“We hope that the cooperation and collaboration between ITB and Huawei can continue and its scope will be expanded. This collaboration is very important to prepare human resources with the competencies needed to work in the Indonesian ICT industry. In the future, we hope that ITB can maintain and strengthen its collaboration with Huawei," said the Rector.
