CIREBON, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted the ITB Open House: Cirebon Edition at the Arjawinangun campus on Saturday (3/2/2024). Among the highlights of the event was information about three new undergraduate classes planned to open at the ITB Cirebon Campus for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The three classes are Biology from the School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH), Entrepreneurship from the School of Business and Management (SBM), and Product Design from the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD). These parallel classes are also available at ITB Ganesha Campus (Biology and Product Design) and ITB Jatinangor Campus (Entrepreneurship).

The opening of these classes is part of a huge effort to broaden educational opportunities at the university and enhance ITB's impact on society.

The establishment of classes at the ITB Cirebon Campus aligns with ITB's multicampus development plan. According to the plan, new classes will be opened every four years.

Since its inauguration in the 2016/2017 academic year, the ITB Cirebon Campus has offered four parallel undergraduate classes in Industrial Engineering (FIT), Urban and Regional Planning (SAPPD), Craft (FAD), and Geophysical Engineering (FMPE). This expanded with the introduction of parallel undergraduate classes in Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Oceanography from FITB.

In preparation for the new class, ITB Cirebon Campus has undertaken various measures, including the development of academic facilities and infrastructure.

The admission process for new students is currently underway, and comprehensive information about ITB's admission selection pathways is available at https://admission.itb.ac.id/info/.

Accepted students will undergo the Common Preparatory Stage Program (TPB) at ITB Jatinangor Campus before proceeding to the Cirebon campus located in Arjawinangun to pursue their chosen classes.

The Director of ITB Cirebon Campus, Dr. Ir. Iwan Kustiawan, M.T., emphasized the unique aspects of the programs offered at the Cirebon campus, particularly their relevance to the local environment

"We provide similar services and curriculum (to students at the Ganesha, Jatinangor, and Jakarta campuses). The advantages (at the Cirebon campus) lie in the specificities related to the region. For example, Biology can focus on aquatic biology, Product Design can be related to local potential such as typical Cirebon furniture, and Entrepreneurship from SBM can support these initiatives," he explained.

He hopes that the introduction of these parallel classes would contribute positively to ITB Cirebon Campus in nurturing high-quality human resources and generating broader positive impacts.Through the ITB Open House activity, he hopes to heighten the interest of high school students in pursuing higher education, particularly at ITB.

"This activity is crucial to increase the awareness of prospective students in the Cirebon area and its surroundings. It provides an expanded opportunity for the public to gain detailed insights into the developments at the Cirebon Campus," he stated.
