BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—Directorate of Student Affairs of ITB and Unit Rebana ITB (URI) held a commemoration of Isra' Mi'raj 1442 H on Saturday (27/03/2021). Ustadz Dr. Aam Amiruddin, M.Sc. was the one who delivered the tausiyah (sermon). He talked about Isra' Mi'raj from faith and intelligence-based perspectives. He discussed Isra' Mi'raj from the perspective of faith and intellectual and discussed how to behave wisely toward the event.

The event began with a salawat performance from URI, then continued by a recitation of the Holy Quran. Next, URI came back on stage, presenting mahalul qiyam. Afterwards, Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhitama delivered a welcoming remark as Director of Student Affairs of ITB.

Ustadz Dr. Aam Amiruddin focuses on discussing the wise response of faith and intellect to Isra' Mi'raj. He mentioned three substantial elements of human: body, mind, and al-qalb or heart. The human body requires balanced nutrition to worship properly. The human mind is created for us to explore things in the world, then process data and objects with the help of human logic. Meanwhile, the human heart is a place for faith to be cultivated. He reminded the participants that rationality in mind and faith in the heart must complement each other and not be divided.

Ustadz Aam explained further related to religion and science, which must complement each other as well. These two things have something in common, namely similarities in seeking truth and happiness. However, the resulting conclusions may vary. He continued the discussion with the classification of truth into four types based on object, paradigm, method, and criteria. The four types were pragmatic truth, scientific truth, philosophical truth, and revelation truth.

Dr. Aam added that one should accept Isra' Mi'raj with faith and belief. "Isra' 'Mi'raj is not a discussion material because it needs to be understood with the logic of the revelation truth, not with rationality," he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Aam Amiruddin persuaded the participants to take lessons from Isra' Mi'raj because it teaches Muslims to maintain equality in faith and harmony between words and actions as one's honour. Muslims also need to preserve honesty, maintain discipline, and keep promise.
