JATINANGOR, itb.ac.id – On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Institut Teknologi Bandung hosted a training session on sexual assault prevention and handling (SAPH) as a part of 2023 cohort’s freshmen orientation.
This training is designed to prevent sexual assault in public areas, including the campus environment, by teaching students to practice 5D concept, which translates to redirect, reprimand, document, report, and appease. Training becomes important to invite students, as bystanders, to actively prevent sexual assault and harrasment.
Apart from the 5D strategy, students are also introduced to the definition of sexual assault, which relies mainly on coercion. Coercion can be in the form of punishment or reward/seduction. Students are also made aware of common sexual assault types and the 21 forms of sexual assault listed in the Ministerial Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. This is done to ensure that students can actively refrain from committing such actions.
Apart from that, Students are also introduced to the SAPH Task Force, so students can report cases. Lastly, students are asked to fill out a survey at bit.ly/SurveiPPKSITB. All these efforts are done to create a sexual harassment-free campus environment.
This event was attended by ITB Rector Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., head of ITB SAPH Task Force Prof. Dr. Ir. Herlien Dwiarti Soemari, L’Oréal Paris Brand Business Leader Deddy Lukmanda, Demand Co-Founder Anindya Restuviani, together with L’Oréal Paris Worth It Squad and musician Eva Celia, and teams from L'oreal Paris and Demand.
