Bandung, itb.ac.id-The Conference, entitled iCubesat 2015, or Interplanetary Cubesat Workshop, at 170 Queen's Gate is held on Tuesday and Wednesday (26-27/05/15) is housed on the campus of Imperial College London, United Kingdom. This is the 4th event after the previous had been successfully held at the California Institute of Technology and Massasuchette Institute of Technology. This activity was initiated by Michael Johnson, a Cubesat practitioners from Imperial College also has a project called Pocket Spacecraft that will be launched in the near future.
The Conference was attended by representatives of space agencies of Government such as NASA Ames Research Center, NASA Langley Research Center, as well as ESA; company and industry space technology such as Airbus and Space Defense, Tyvak, Deep Space Industries, Space Systems Loral, Solar Sail of the Ecliptic Enterprise, and Pocket Spacecraft; as well as the University and/or academic institutions such as Imperial College London (UK), SpaceLab Oxford Space System (UK), University of Central Florida (USA), Cranfield University (UK), Lulea University of Technology (Sweden), National University of Defense Technology (China), National University of South Wales (Australia), CNRS-Ecole Polytechnique (France), Centre Spatial de Liege (Belgium), and Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia). In this Conference, there were 40 researches presented in this activity including research from Indonesia, who is the delegation of ITB.
At the event, each presenter is welcome to present their research on the use of technology in the cubesat establishments respectively in the form of research proposals, dissertations, mission status update, or in any other form. That became the basic grip for them is that the technology is a Cubesat appropriate technology that can be developed by anyone, and will be useful for many people, this event is part of the collaborative technology development through the exchange of knowledge and experiences with each other.
Cubesat is itself a new space technology development trends in the form of very small-sized satellite (nano), where 1 unit Cubesat just has dimensions 10 x 10 x 10 cm with a weight of no more than 1.33 kg, and has roughly the same functionality with the satellite. Cubesat much developed by flagship universities in America and Europe, and has become a new business and industry in the world.
At the event, representatives of the Bandung Institute of technology i.e. Ryan Fadhilah Hadi (Aeronotics and Astronautics Engineering 2010), as well as the Emir Mauludi Husni Ph.d. (Professor of Electrical engineering, ITB), get a chance to present his research in the field of Cubesat. On that occasion, Ryan presented the task of finally about the framework of simulation capabilities to analyze the Cubesat attitude control using reaction wheel. The tools developed can also be used to demonstrate how to control satellite attitude at work, to interest students in the development of satellite technology. While the Emir presented his research in the field of utilization of redundant configuration of the linux operating system on the on-board computer to Cubesat. The departure of both of these representatives is sponsored by the Association of Indonesia Satellite (ASSI) which lately has also developed an interest for promoting autonomy in the mastery of space technology.
