ITB Displayed Research and Community Service Products in Citarum Expo 2019

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung displayed innovation works and products in Citarum Expo 2019 at Gedong Sabilulungan, Soreang, Bandung Regency on Tuesday (19/2/2019). Those works and products are the results of ITB’s activities for Citarum Harum, a program initiated by the government since years ago.

During the exhibition, Institute for Research and Community Service of ITB (LPPM-ITB) displayed seven posters which depict the researches done in 2018 by ITB experts and students, who are incorporated under ITB task force for restoration of Citarum Harum. One of the poster displayed comes from Students Affairs of ITB depicting Thematic Student Study Service in Cihea Village, Cianjur. During the expo, ITB also displayed three instruments.

Various ITB’s activities for Citarum Harum have been conducted on education, research and community service. Among those activities are: Waste water management in Citarum river basin using recirculating aquaculture system for freshwater fish production; training on household waste composting and composer sharing to community; and aerial mapping.

ITB has also conducted design and application of agroforestry model for low-erosion productive land on Cikundul sub river basin; planting 1,000 seeds of legume, corn, nuts, and sweet potatoes in Cinangsi Village. ITB also held a national seminar titled integrated management strategy of problems on Citarum river basin by presenting 9 speakers from various fields. The seminar was organized by Professors Forum of ITB.

During the expo, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, and Regent of Bandung, Dadang M Naser also visit ITB stand. They appreciated the efforts conducted by ITB for Citarum Harum program.

“The integrated task force for Restoration of Citarum Harum has a task to conduct analysis and studies on structure of designated areas in Citarum river basin, to give suggestion and recommendation to treatment on Citarum Harum, and to cooperate with parties in central and regional governments, higher education, research bodies, industries, and NGO as well as other parties involved in Citarum Harum program,” said Vice Rector of General Administration, Alumni, and Communication of ITB, Miming Miharja.
