ITB Held a Virtual Commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a virtual commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary on Tuesday (02/03/2021). The Anniversary commemoration was attended by the Rector of ITB, the Board of Trustees, the Academic Senate, the Professor's Forum, and ITB Partners. This event was also attended by lecturers, education staff, and the ITB extended family in general.

Apart from remarks from the Chairperson of the ITB Board of Trustees, the Chairperson of the Academic Senate, and the Rector of ITB, this event also contained a scientific speech from Dr. Imam Achmad Sadisun S.T., M.T., with the theme "Returning to Earth Towards Harmonious Development".

The event began with remarks from the ITB Board of Trustees' Chairperson, Ir. Yani Panigoro, MM. As a campus for technology, science, arts, and social sciences, and humanities, Yani said that ITB needs to expand the spirit of innovation. She also invited the ITB community to look at opportunities amid a crisis carefully. "ITB as an innovation campus must be a role model in leadership for other universities. With leadership, we can solve the crisis with various productive actions," she stated.

The Chairperson of ITB Academic Senate, Prof. Hermawan Kresno Dipojono delivered the second speech. He persuaded the ITB community to remain optimistic and enthusiastic in supporting Indonesia's economic transformation. He also mentioned that it is crucial for the community, especially the ITB community, to respond correctly to crises and economic uncertainty. "The abundance of creativity or super creative cores is the best investment that makes Indonesia have great potential to become a sustainable megacity," he said.

The last speech was delivered by the Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah. She highlighted the post-pandemic economic recovery period, which will be full of uncertainty and challenges. Indonesia has many opportunities, such as the spirit of community solidarity, the experience of a pandemic that has brought new inspiration, and the openness of society to technology use.

The Rector of ITB also said that ITB is committed to the government's vaccination program's success through the Health Personnel Vaccination Festival in West Java. ITB also contributes through target villages and research in accelerating national economic recovery. "Four critical words in the post-pandemic era, namely innovation, resilience, solidarity, and engagement. I advise the ITB community to always comply with health protocols, increase productivity, creativity, and innovation," She concluded.

At the end of the event, ITB gave awards to academicians who had excellent contributions in teaching, research, innovation work, and institutional development. The number of awards given was 55 awards with details of 12 awards in the field of education, 12 awards in the field of research, 19 awards of innovation, and 12 awards in institutional development. Prof. Reinihopes that those awards would spark the ITB community's enthusiasm to continue working in any situation.
