ITB Jatifest 2023 Brought the Green Culture Concept to Artistic Installations
JATINANGOR, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is hosting its first grand festival on the Jatinangor Campus, known as ITB Jatifest 2023. The event is just a few days away, scheduled for Saturday (2/9/2023). Embracing the Green Culture concept, ITB Jatifest 2023 is set to showcase the beauty of the Jatinangor campus to visitors.
The primary concept of ITB Jatifest 2023, "Green Culture," was initiated by Dr. Budi Adi Nugroho, S.Sn., M.Sn (a lecturer from the Faculty of Arts and Design), and the ITB Jatifest 2023 artistic team. Budi explained the concept as an environmentally friendly festival. Wind serves as the central element in installations designed in various forms, using bamboo as the primary material for ITB Jatifest 2023. Every artistic element at ITB Jatifest 2023 boasts organic shapes with continuous flows.
The development of artistic forms is evident in the Roga statues, entrance, main stage, and amphitheater. Budi mentioned that the main stage concept drew inspiration from the roofs of historical buildings at ITB Ganesha. All these elements align with the ITB Jatifest logo created by Bima Nurin from Wanar Studio, incorporating a blend of spirit and colors representing multi-campus ITB.
Budi disclosed that the ITB Jatifest 2023 project marks his first project for ITB. Previously, Budi focused on public space artwork. His contributions to public art are well-regarded, with his works displayed in the city of Bandung, including Cicendo Square and the Center of Wajan Holis.
The planning phase didn't take long for Budi and the artistic team. About one month after the team's formation, they transformed their ideas into the design for ITB Jatifest 2023, which is now almost complete. Despite the challenges, such as limited funds and time constraints, Budi and the team have put their creative strategies to good use, particularly when it came to realizing the physical designs.
ITB Jatifest 2023 is an annual program designed to welcome new students. As the first event held on the Jatinangor Campus, Budi acknowledges that there may be some shortcomings in its preparations. Nevertheless, he hopes to address these shortcomings in the following year.
He also emphasized that these challenges haven't dampened the enthusiasm of new students as they embark on their first year of education at the ITB Jatinangor Campus.
