ITB Opens Opportunities for West Java Students to Study at the Cirebon Campus ITB

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) opens opportunities for West Java high school students, especially from Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka Kuningan to continue their education at the ITB Cirebon Campus. This golden opportunity is a way to improve human resources quality and develop potential areas in West Java.

Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., said that ITB always strives to increase its active role in developing science, technology, and arts. As a contribution to improving human resources quality, ITB has opened campuses in Jatinangor and Cirebon.

"The ITB Ganesha campus is the main campus whose role has been assigned as a Heritage Campus which is the hub for ITB's cooperation with national and international academic strengths. The ITB Jatinangor and Cirebon campuses are designated as campuses that prioritize tridarma activities for the advancement of the people of West Java, in accordance with the regional characteristics of the two campuses," she said.

With the West Java Provincial Government's full support, the Cirebon ITB Campus is built on an area of ??30 hectares in Arjawinangun District, Cirebon Regency. Currently, five schools/faculties, consisting of seven undergraduate majors, have opened at Cirebon Kampus.

Arief Hariyanto, The Chief of Director of Education ITB, said that ITB Cirebon Campus aims to expanding education access in Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang, and surrounding areas. These areas have high industrial potential and are rapidly developed by the government, such as the cross-Java toll road network, Patimban Port, and the new international airport in Majelengka.

Ridwan Kamil, the Governor of West Java, stated that equitable access to quality higher education is his current government's focus. Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government has assigned ITB to open campuses in several areas in West Java.

"The West Java Provincial Government is committed to continuing to support the development of these campuses in various aspects, in order to realize superior human resources, access and equity in higher education, and to encourage regional development," he said.
