Prof. I Gede Wenten, ITB’s Vice Rector for Research and Innovation (WRRI), stated that this achievement is not an overnight result. Since 2020, ITB has consistently cultivated a culture of scientific excellence, with the aim of enhancing both its scientific and innovative capacities.

"Our commitment is to build an academic environment that promotes innovation and high-quality research with global recognition. Our goal is not only to produce high-impact research but also to ensure its benefits are felt by the broader community," he said.

The World's Top 2% Scientists ranking, compiled by Stanford University and published by Elsevier, is based on several scientific metrics, including publication impact, citation counts, and the global influence of scientific contributions.

ITB has consistently achieved top-tier scientific recognition at the national level, as evidenced by data from SCIVAL and SINTA. This achievement is supported by the high score in the Top Tier (Q1) Publications per Faculty category and total citations per lecturer, reflecting the significant impact of ITB’s research. These indicators have continued to grow consistently year after year.

This success is also due in part to ITB’s productive collaborations with globally renowned universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge. These collaborations have resulted in numerous joint publications in high-impact factor journals, further enhancing ITB’s global scientific reputation.

Furthermore, Prof. Wenten also emphasized ITB’s ongoing focus on advancing science and technology. "We remain committed to promoting competitive and internationally relevant research, grounded in universal scientific standards," he explained.

As Indonesia’s oldest engineering university, ITB has demonstrated its quality in research at both national and international levels. This achievement showcases that with strong support and a conducive academic environment, ITB’s lecturers and researchers can produce globally recognized work. ITB aspires to serve as a role model for other universities in Indonesia to elevate their research and innovation quality.
