BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – A Paper titled “Mathematical Modelling of Coffee Husk Drying in Applying Biorefinery Concept towards Sustainable Industrial Development” brings ITB students to 2nd best poster in International Engineering Student Conference (IESC) on Saturday (30/09/17) at Gedung Kuliah Bersama, Universitas Indonesia. Those three students are Adeltama Janno Ajiputra, Muhammad Naufal Hakim (Bio-engineering 2014), and Duma Doniagara Sambora (Bio-engineering 2015).
The Paper explains about dried coffee husk or cascara as a tea-like drink with phenolic compound content that gives health benefit. Considering that, a mathematical modelling is made for optimal time for coffee husk drying using shade drying and oven drying.
Hopefully, this model could be applied to coffee industry in order to develop coffee husk industrialization, a commodity usually found as waste product, and maximize the value of coffee husk as coffee bio-refinery.
First, the team had to
make an abstract, and after it passed, then the team had to make full paper and
poster. Further, there will be announcement of passed papers that get into IESC
proceedings to see the invited teams to the conference.
Since two out of three members have begun their student final project, it was not easy to find times working on the paper and poster. But still it finished on time.
“We are grateful to have this chance and we hope this will inspire us or our friends to make works. Keep the intention to work for learning, not only for winning, so that any result we get will improve us better,” said Aji as the team’s representative.
