ITB Team the Grand Prize Winner in Engineering Education Festa 2017 in Gwangju, South Korea

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – As another achievement in international level, ITB delegates who were sent to South Korea in Engineering Education Festa 201 Capstone Design Fair International Session (E2FESTA 2017) won the first prize on Friday (10/11/17). The Winning team were consisted of Irham Mulkan Rodiana (Electrical Engineering 2013), Freddy Kurniawan (Mechanical Engineering 2013), Kinari Nur Aulia Padma Negara (Industrial Design 2013), and Ninik Kania (Industrial Design 2013) with two other students from Chonbuk National University (CBNU).
The Competition took place at Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju, South Korea and was initiated by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy South Korea and Korea Association of Innovation Centers for Engineering Education. Being one of the teams representing Indonesia, ITB team beat several prominent competitors from Asia. Contenders in the competition were ITB (Indonesia), PENS (Indonesia), Tel-U (Indonesia), KLE TECH (India), HKUST (Hong Kong), NUS (Singapore), NTU (Singapore), RMUTT (Thailand), SCUT (China), KIT (Japan), CBNU (South Korea), CNU (South Korea), JNU (South Korea), NCKU (Taiwan), and UKM (Malaysia).
Carrying a theme about health devices, ITB team designed Re-Lease. Re-Lease is a device that check urine condition in urinal using health tracking concept based on the color of the urine. The system in the device consist of smart device and big data. Re-lease ITB team has gone through a long journey for the concept and the device, about 6 months in which 4 months to prepare the concept and 2 months to make the product. Progress is reported every week to mentor lecturer from Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design.
Through this competition, each participant will learn to integrate each discipline to make beneficial product. The most essential part of the competition is team work building because each team consist of multidisciplinary, multicultural, and multinational members and therefore require the team to build good communication so that the quality of the product reach the maximum. “Through this competition, we are really glad not only because we win the Grand Prize but also because our idea in our product is acceptable to society internationally,” said Freddy Kurniawan as one of Re-Lease team members.
