ITB Welcomes Foreign Students in ITB Student Orientation 2023

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held an International Student Orientation intended for all foreign students beginning their first semester in Graduate and Postgraduate Studies within ITB. This orientation was held in Room 9676 Lecture Hall Building 1 (GKU 1), ITB Jatinangor Campus, Saturday (02/09/2023).
This event was led by Rafly Akbar (Industrial Engineering, 2022) and Jasmine Exa Kamilia (Environmental Engineering, 2021) as the current ITB Student Ambassadors specializing in Multicultural and Diversity Program.
This International Student Orientation was provided in four sessions. The first session of the orientation was directly given by the representative of The Bureau of Partnership ITB, Ir. Alfend Rudyawan, S.T., M.Sc., M.T., Ph.D.
He introduced foreign students to Indonesian Culture and some aspects of higher education in Indonesia, particularly at ITB, while emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural understanding. On top of that, this session covers information regarding visa, immigration, as well as employment for students for whom this is relevant
ITB Administrators, faculty, and staff also serve as speakers for the second orientation session, beginning by The Head of Sub Directorate of Monitoring and Academic Evaluation of ITB, Dr. Ir. Dianika Lestari, S.T., M.T., covering topics on the general principle of academic ethics and integrity of ITB students, as well as curriculum, and the different types of further education provided by ITB. Following the act, The Head of Sub Directorate of Student Welfare and Support Services, Ir. Hendri Syamsudin, M.Sc., Ph.D., introduced many types of care facilities and activities that are available in ITB, as provided by the Directorate of Student Affairs. Third, The Head of Sub Directorate of Technology Planning and Educational Content, Allya Paramita Koesoema, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., demonstrates the importance of an academic information system that will play a major role in the life of ITB students' academic journey.
The third session of the orientation was hosted by a representative for The Director of Facilities and Infrastructure of ITB, Dr. Eng. Ginting Jalu Kusuma, S.T., M.T., as he informs the students regarding the campus facilities available to use. Lastly, the fourth session was given to inspire students with innovation, research, and community services that have been undertaken by ITB.
This event provides an opportunity for new international students of ITB to further learn about topics such as cultural adjustments, academic and social life at ITB, campus resources, and so on. With informative presentations and a warm welcome, the new students are expected to gain success in their studies at ITB.
