BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – In order to nurture all its members, Student Choir of ITB (PSM-ITB) held a concert titled ‘Luminous” on Sunday (30/04/17). Taking place at Aula Barat ITB, PSM-ITB presented songs from various countries in Europe and America. PSM-ITB enchanted more than 700 spectators from both ITB and public.
Unlike the previous concerts, this time PSM-ITB held the concert in two cities, Jakarta and Bandung, with the intention to introduce PSM-ITB and other choir community to wider public. In Jakarta, Luminous concert was held at Graha Swara Auditorium, Universitas Tarumanegara on Sunday (23/04/17), where PSM-ITB entertained more than 200 spectators.
The concert in Bandung was opened with a speech by Kevin Nataniel (Ocean Engineering 2014) as the Head of PSM-ITB and Dr. Sony Suhandono, M.Sc. as the Chairman of Student Affair of ITB (LK ITB). The concert continued into two differently themed sessions, depending on the original country of the songs. On the first session, the European Choral Works, PSM-ITB presented various traditional songs from European countries, such as Dindaru Dandaru from Latvia, Die Harmonie in der Ehe from Germany, and arranged songs by Europe’s renowned composer, such as Josu Elberdin and Eriks Esenvalds. On the second session, the American Choral Works, PSM-ITB presented various traditional songs from American Countries, such as Maximina and modern jazz songs, such as Birdland. To appreciate the enthusiasm shown by the spectators, PSM-ITB concluded the concert with an additional song, Uptown Funk popularized by Bruno Mars.
Teresa Avilla (Clinical and Community Pharmacy 2015) as the Head of the concert explained that the name Luminous was chosen to reflect the expectation of PSM-ITB for every member to shine through their songs. Members of PSM-ITB have to put their energy and time into four months of rehearsal and other technical activities to prepare for the concert. Despite not being easy, their effort pays off as their ticket in Bandung sold out, displaying enthusiasm of the public to Luminous.
