BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Misael Natanael, a student in Physics Program of ITB, graduated with the highest GPA at The Third ITB Graduation Ceremony Academic Year 2018/2019. He finished his study with a near perfect GPA, 3.99.
During his study in ITB, Misael has been a teaching assistant several times for a number of courses, such as Modern Physics, Magnetic Physics, and Quantum Physics. He also once served as deputy head of compiler of a physics exercise books, PHIWIKI, for the 2018/2019 edition. This graduate, born in Bogor on 21 June 1997, said that he loves studying physics. During senior high, he even participated in National Scientific Olympiad (OSN) in Physics.
Amidst his tight daily schedules, Misael still actively involved in Society of Physics Students (HIMAFI) of ITB and Badminton Unit (UBT) of ITB. He was listed as a member of governing body and head of organizational regeneration of UBT in 2016. “Do not just study. Keep it balance between academic and organizational activities,” he said. According to him, academic activities is the main aim, but organizational activities made him know many people and have better soft skills.
During four years of study in ITB, Misael admitted to rarely stay up late in the night. By using the time he had from morning to evening, he successfully earns a near-perfect GPA, 3.99. “We have to spend time efficiently. Spend it as efficient as you can,” he said. He also avoided staying up late in the night whenever possible to maintain his health.
Besides his efficient time management, Misael also often learnt course materials before getting the explanation on classroom. “I sometimes study during holidays because I like it,” he said. Misael believes that if he loves what he do, the result will be satisfying.
His thesis titled “Engineering of Scattering Wave from Multiple Nanospheres System” led him to international conference on optical physics held by Indonesian Optics Society in Ukrida. After earning his bachelor degree, Misael immediately enters the fastrack program that enables him to finish Master Degree within only a year.
Misael also believes that all students can achieve the best result if they are consistent to their commitment in study. He also reminded fellow students to never give up and never be afraid in their study because every difficulty can be tackled.
