BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Pagelaran Seni Budaya (PSB) 2012 was held on Ganesha Street, at Sunday (25/03/12). The cultural units performed harmonious collaboration in this biannual event. Vice Rector of Academics and Student Affair, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsyah Suryadi mengapres praised the students' hardwork and initiatives to conduct this event.
He said, "Preserving diversity is a form of patriotic act in maintaining national unity." The Project Officer of PSB 2012, Ridho Qurbany said that this year's PSB demonstrates youth awareness towards cultural diversity in national unity.
"PSB 2012 displays various national cultural shows," explained Ridho. A majestic stage displays the cultural performances, Keris making, cultural unit booths, traditional food booths, and inter-unit art collaboration.
This year, PSB 2012 introduces Putra Putri Budaya ITB, to select ITB male and female cultural ambassador. The ambassador candidates are the representatives of Student Art Units. The criteria used to evaluate the participants' performances are not only physique, but also academic performances and their devotion to Indonesian culture.
Another event, PSBow Cup, offers the chance to re-interact with traditional games such as bentengan, egrang, batok kelapa, and many others. The President of ITB Student Executive Body (Kabinet KM ITB) Tizar Bijaksana said, "ITB should be beyond the academic center of excellence, it should also be the cultural center of excellence."
The visitors are enchanted by the Batara Garuda theatre performed at PSB opening ceremony. The theatre attempts to deliver the message that Indonesian culture can survive amidst the globalisation and foreign penetration.
