English skills are essential to obtain in this era of globalization. English has been one of the international languages since the 18th century and has played a major role in career development, especially on an international level. Therefore, honing English skills is crucial for practical communication in a professional setting.

SEG ITB collaborated with the TOEFL Warrior in this event. TOEFL Warrior is a known provider of TOEFL ITP and iBT, IELTS, as well as other official proficiency tests. With this, participants have the opportunity to practice more than 15 TOEFL/IELTS hands-on questions and also gain insight in the form of tips and tricks for English conversation.

During the event, participants were asked to recognize various types of English tests, such as TOEFL and IELTS. The TOEFL ITP, for example, is often used in non-English-speaking countries to measure the listening, reading, and grammar skills of the participants. Meanwhile, TOEFL iBT is commonly used as college entrance requirement in English-speaking countries, measuring reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. On the other hand, IELTS is widely accepted for academic and immigration purposes.

The key to success in English is not just about listening and reading, but also how one can hold a conversation and improve their writing skills. During this event, participants were taught the importance of practicing speaking with native speakers, as well as to write regularly, and expand the vocabulary.

SEG English Leap provides an opportunity for participants to improve their competence in English, which will certainly be useful in their future careers. With the right strategy and guidance from TOEFL Warrior, participants are expected to improve their English skills and prepare themselves for various tests to come.
