JATINANGOR, itb.ac.id — The Robotics Unit of Institut Teknologi Bandung (URO ITB) held Sekolah Unit Robotika (SEKURO), an internal event to improve the ability and understanding of new members regarding the world of robotics. The event took place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Auditorium Room, General Lecture Building (GKU 2), ITB Jatinangor Campus.
Chairman of URO ITB, Satria Nababan (Informatics Engineering, 2021) explained SEKURO’s journey to date, highlighting its achievement and outlining the next step that must be taken to ensure continued growth.
“URO ITB is a space for learning, creating, and competing. Through SEKURO, we aim to ensure that each member understands our shared vision and is ready to make the best contribution in the field of robotics,” stated Satria Nababan.
Following the opening, each team in URO ITB gave a short presentation about their goals, uniqueness, and accomplishments. Here’s a brief overview of each team:
1. KRSBI-B (Wheeled Indonesian Soccer Robot Contest) – The Dagozilla Team showcased their advanced soccer robot and demonstrated a spinning top maneuver;
2. KRSBI-H (Humanoid Indonesian Soccer Robot Contest) – This team introduced humanoid robot control technology designed for playing soccer, emphasizing the challenges of developing human-like robots;
3. KRTMI (Thematic Indonesian Robot Contest) – Focused on theme-based robotics, this team showed creative ideas for practical solutions in thematic robotics;
4. KRAI (ABU Indonesian Robot Contest) – This team presented strategies for competing in international competitions with mission-oriented robots. This team is one of the regular winners.
5. KRSTI (Indonesian Dance Art Robot Contest) – This team stole the show with a unique and colorful robot design, reflecting elements of art and culture.
6. KRSRI (Indonesian Search and Rescue Robot Contest) – Showcasing robots that can be used for emergency rescue operations. Especially fire fighting.
7. KRBAI (Indonesian Underwater Robot Contest) – This team explains the explorations of hard-to-reach underwater environments, conducting research to uncover underwater mysteries. The knowledge gained in this RISTEX Team can be applied to various practical fields. The application can be expressed through LRI ( Indonesian Research Institute), scientific papers or research, and internships.
“Seeing the work of each team has really motivated me to learn more. Every team brings something unique,” said Aryo Kusumo (First-Year SEEI 2024), a SEKURO participant in the electrical division.

Through the event, participants received both technical and non-technical training from various divisions:
1. Mechanical Division – Participants gained an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process, including techniques used to build robot components;
2. Electrical Division – Through hands-on sessions, participants practiced soldering and creating simple electronic circuits, offering valuable practical experience;
3. Programming Division – The discussion material covered topics such as algorithms and control, essential for developing intelligent robotic systems;
4. Non-Technical Division – This division provided insights into design and creativity to support URO ITB’s activities, including team branding and visual presentations.
The event offered a comprehensive learning experience. Beyond acquiring knowledge, participants were inspired by the dedication and enthusiasm of senior members and peers alike.
“We want to make sure that every new member of SEKURO not only masters technical skills but also develops strong management, creativity, and collaboration capabilities. These are essential for success in the field of robotics,” said Rimba Harits (Engineering Physics, 2022), leader of KRSBI-B.
Through this program, URO ITB continues to strengthen its position as a leading robotics community in Indonesia that is not only oriented toward competition but also the development of competent and highly competitive young generations at the national and international levels.
