TEDxITB 5.0: Reflection as Source of Inspiration

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Located in Saung Angklung Udjo, TEDxITB was again held for the fifth time on Sunday (22/5/2022). This conference invited the ITB family to share their stories; opening horizons and inviting students to be encouraged to develop creative dreams that can become answers to global issues.

TEDx is an independently organized event under the license of the non-profit organization TED which aims to actualize the mission of “ideas worth spreading” through local communities around the world by sharing ideas and innovations to spark movement and change.

TEDxITB 5.0 picked up the theme ‘Daydreamers', which invited participants to contribute and express their dreams as fuel for self-development. The speakers, consisting of five alumni and one selected ITB student, discussed various global issues with local impacts, in the arts and media, education, entrepreneurship, environment, psychology, as well as technology and innovation area.

After the opening speech, the first session of the conference began. The first session featured three speakers, starting with a presentation by Krisanti Debora Angelia (Chief Marketing Officer at Pemimpin.id, Community Development Consultant Paragon Technology and Innovation) who discussed the importance of focusing on potential excellence in self-development.

Next was Agung Nugroho (Ex CEO and Co-Founder PT Kudo Teknologi Indonesia & Ex Senior Director Grab Indonesia) who discussed about the importance of listening and lowering the ego in building a business, before closing it with Adi Reza Nugoroho (CEO and Co-Founder Mytcotech Lab) with his story of building MYCL, a biology-based company that produces leather bioproducts from fungi. After those three speakers, the conference moved to a game and break session, followed by the performance of Bambu Angin and a session of playing angklung with Saung Angklung Udjo.

After the very impressive break, the second session began shortly after. On this occasion, Aldi Raharja (Head of Blockchain Metaverse Solutions WIR Group & CEO CeriTech Indonesia) explained the metaverse concept and Indonesia's potential to take advantage of it, followed by Ifandi Khainur Rahim (CEO Satu Persen, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia, Certified HR Professional) who described the relationship between art and psychology through various generations, especially in the current era of social media, before being closed by the last speaker, Elnaya Mahadevi Pilian (Environmental Engineering 2019), the selected student speaker, who shared about dreams and daydreams that breed creativity.

ITB Director of Student Affairs Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhitama, S,Sn., M.Sn. said that this event was the culmination of a series of events surrounding the ITB 2022 April Graduation which began with the April Graduation Celebration by ITB Student Families, followed by ITB Virtual Integrated Career Days 2022 by ITB Career Center, and closed by TEDxITB 5.0: Daydreamers.

Head of the Sub-Directorate for Professional Development and Entrepreneurship at Ditmawa ITB (Head of ITB Career Center) Sonny Rustiadi, M.B.A., Ph.D. hoped that this event can be an opener for all the campus masses in innovating and dreaming, both while studying and after graduating from ITB. "Hopefully TEDxITB can be a place to share ideas worth spreading," he said.
