BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – ITB’s Kidang Pananjung Dormitory organized a social campaign titled “1000 Masks Movement”. The event was held from 18 to 30 September 2021 and was participated by 11 tutors from the dormitory.
During the event, the tutors handed masks, food, and beverages to various people in the area while following health protocols.
This campaign was directed to financially challenged members of society; however, tutors also gave masks to those in need like street merchants, janitors, and more. They would sometimes encounter people who do not wear their masks. Hence, handing these masks is necessary for the safety of themselves and their surroundings.
Since the pandemic is still ongoing, the operation is not carried out centrally. It was instead performed across 11 cities or towns where the tutors reside, including Bandung, Indramayu, Bekasi, Jakarta, Sukabumi, Depok, Bogor, Padang Sidempuan, Labuhan Batu Utara, Karo, and Parung Panjang.
Fueled by the tutors' enthusiasm to help others, the event went well from start to finish. “Alhamdulillah, people were thankful for this movement,” Zakik Abidin, the coordinator of the Kidang Pananjung Dormitory, commented.
Zakik hoped that this event could continue in the future and inspire people to empathize with one another in these trying times. In these moments, acts of kindness may bring help to others.
