BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The International Relations Office (IRO), Bureau of Partnership Institut Teknologi Bandung held a One Day Trip with the international students who are currently studying at ITB on Thursday, 26 May 2022. For one day, the students were taken to visit places all over Bandung such as to Hong Community, had lunch together, and took a tour around town with Bandros, a special touring bus in Bandung.
"Today unleash your joy because finally we can meet in real life and go out together after previously only being limited to online meetings. With this activity, let's hope that we can get closer and keep in touch with each other. Hopefully, all can enjoy and through these activities, you can become more familiar with Indonesia," said the Head of ITB Bureau of Partnership, Prof. Taufik Hidayat, in front of the International Relation Office, Bureau of Partnership ITB.
Before they went to the first destination, each student and staff was assigned to two different buses. The buses then drove them to Hong Community, a traditional children's game center located on North Pakar Street, Dago. This destination was chosen to introduce the students to the West Java traditional children's games.
In Hong Community, the students can observe or directly get their hands on various Indonesian traditional children's games such as Hompimpa, Salam Sabrak, Ampar-Ampar Pisang, Tetemute, Perepe Jengkol, and so much more. After they finished, the students then were given a traditional toy called a kolecer, which is known in Bahasa Indonesia as a baling-baling.
The next stop was an all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant. There, the students ate their lunch together and were served a Japanese dish called shabu-shabu. After they finished their lunch, the students continued their evening with a tour around the town via Bandung Tour on Bus (Bandros).
The Bandros' route began on Diponegoro Street towards Asia Africa Street. On the Bandros, the tour guide gave explanations about each historical landmark that the buses passed through. Then they were given time to explore Merdeka Building and Bandung Town Square, and other historical landmarks after the buses arrived at Asia Africa Street. The participants then took a group photo in front of the Merdeka Building. The trip ended with their return journey towards their starting point, the International Relations Office – Institut Teknologi Bandung.
