SUMEDANG, itb.ac.id – ITB conducted its 2023 Thematic Community Service in Cipeundeuy Village from July 25 to August 17, 2023, located in Cimarga, Cisitu District, Sumedang Regency. Students engaged in various community activities, including teaching, independence day preparation, community services, and gymnastics with locals.
One notable initiative involved aiding coffee farmers facing challenges in drying coffee beans. Group 14 proposed constructing a coffee drying house, similar to a greenhouse but equipped with UV plastics. The house, using solar energy and an exhaust blower, aims to enhance the drying process's effectiveness.
Group 8 focused on bolstering the coffee business by introducing hullers, pulpers, and roasters, stored in a building designed by the students. They also organized online workshops, consultations, and assistance on branding and marketing for the Mount Lingga Farmer Group.
Group 11 successfully installed and revitalized public street lights across Cipeundeuy and Sumpermayung villages, addressing the community's need for nighttime lighting. The new lights feature motion sensors, adjusting intensity based on movement, while revitalized lights have light sensors for automatic on/off, minimizing energy usage.
Group 8 leader, Eriezzha Arriefqi, emphasized creating bookkeeping and guidebook documents for Cimarga Village's potential as a tourist destination. They distributed these documents to agritourism management, aiming to benefit the entire community.
Additionally, students engaged with the palm sugar industry, conducting FGDs to harness the village's potential. Programs included online shops, QRIS implementation, interactive online sales training, and brand/packaging formulation.
Overall, ITB's thematic community service in Cipeundeuy Village demonstrated a multifaceted approach, combining technological solutions, business development, and community empowerment to foster sustainable growth.
