BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—There are three main focuses in supporting the growth of human resources in ITB (Institut Teknologi Bandung): policing system, technology utilization, and strategies in working units.

Irwan Rey, a consultant from HCM (Human Capital Management) ITB as well as the managing director from MTI (Multi Talent Indonesia), explained that the HR policing system is related to its management, encompassing from recruitment to resignation. “Our control strategy is to know when they got the right person at the right time. We also find ways to motivate employees and maintain high-performing ones,” Irwan described during the socialization of HCM.

Irwan then stated that technology has an important role in organizations, especially in decision-making. Moreover, technology helps facilitate various tasks such as administration in the HR sector.

“It is difficult for an organization to make the right decision in HR matters if there is no available technology,” Irwan added.

Lastly, HR improvement of ITB can happen through its working units. Based on Irwan’s explanation, working units are linked to operational activities. An example includes compiling job descriptions in order to assign individuals that excel in certain areas. Clear working units can be used as references to provide compensation for outstanding staff.

Irwan realized that HR transformation is just part of ITB's effort to increase its organizational performance. To do so, each perspective of the members is essential for improvement. Thus, Irwan and his team map out revisions in HR to support ITB’s vision and mission.

Irwan revealed that the first step his HCM ITB team made to improve the HR sector is to set the required foundations to proceed with the recruitment. After the basis is established, the team can start planning out career development and management for their employees.
