BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Finishing a study in Institut Teknologi Bandung with an excellent predicate is a dream of every student. Tiara Millania, a student from the Undergraduate Study Program in Management in International Business, School of Business and Management ITB (SBM ITB), was awarded as one of the students with the highest GPA in the ITB 2022 October Graduation. Tiara, her nickname, managed to get a Cum Laude predicate with a GPA of 3,98 out of 4,00.

Not only focused on her academic life, Tiara also joined many organizations inside and outside ITB. She has been active in many organizations since her freshman year in ITB by joining student association activities and becoming a committee member in some events in ITB. Tiara also had the opportunity to become a Curator Manager at the TEDxITB 4.0 event, a Project Leader, and a Research and Development Manager at Progressio Consulting Group.

In addition to seeking experience through organization and committee, Tiara joined Relearn Indonesia as a Program Manager and interned at Grab during her last college year. Tiara was also chosen as the Indonesian Representative for Harvard Project Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) and became the Young Leaders for Indonesia Awardee by McKinsey & Co.

Despite having many nonacademic activities, she was able to maintain her academic performance. Tiara has her own strategy to manage her time between academic and nonacademic matters.
She realized that studying is her main objective in ITB. Therefore, she began to map her time for all of her activities.

Tiara has a habit to finish her academic duties in the morning, around 4 to 7 a.m. After that, she spent her evenings and nights on organizational matters. "Before my organizational meeting, I make sure that all my academic duties are done," said Tiara to the ITB PR Reporter on Sunday (23/10/22).

Successfully Earned the Highest GPA

Tiara never imagines herself will be one of the students with the highest GPA when she graduates. Previously, Tiara never aimed for this predicate. "I just try my best," said Tiara. Her IPK is only 0,02 points short of perfect because she got an AB grade in the second semester. However, Tiara never regretted that because she believes that she has tried her best.

According to Tiara, there are three tricks to maximize academic efforts. The first is understanding your own core strength so that you won't be easily distracted when studying. The second is choosing the right method of learning. Tiara always studies long before the test date to improve her understanding of the course. Lastly, avoid being shy to ask your friend when you encounter difficulties. These three tricks have made tiara a student with the highest GPA in this October Graduation.

Interested in Startup

As a student in an international program, Tiara spent one year studying at ITB's overseas university partner. She had the opportunity to study at IÉSEG School of Management, Lille, France. Tiara finished her final project with a theme of seed investment for an early-stage startup. She has always been interested in a startup since he interned at Impactto. She feels that the existence of a startup can help many people in the future if it is able to grow well, like the development of an online transportation platform that helps people to move more efficiently.

Even after earning a bachelor's predicate, Tiara said that she will always learn from every opportunity that she can find. A position as a Program Manager in Relearn Indonesia does not make Tiara feel fulfilled. She wants to learn from those who are more expert than her. Tiara is also considering continuing her master's studies in the next few years.

She gave some advice to always do good to each other because at some point when we need help from other people, they will not hesitate to help us. Moreover, Tiara also emphasized not feeling overwhelmed when you have a lot of matters at hand and being more focused on your self-improvement. "Always find your purpose, because that's what keeps you going," said Tiara at the end of this interview.
