BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Again, ITB through Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management collaborate with PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. held a public lecture on Thursday (03/05/12) in Aula Barat ITB. The Vice President Human Resources of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk., Enny Sampurno, was presented as the main speaker. This public lecture was attended by hundreds of students from different majors.

As correlated with the theme for this public lecture, "Doing Business Differently: Growing in a Resource-Constrained World", Enny gave a new perspective about business expansion strategy by implementing the concept of 'sustainable living plan' in every aspect. According to her, developing the human resources in a company is an important thing. Beside the company's product itself, human resources are one of main and crucial factor in expanding business.

Using the concept of "double up the business without increasing impact to environment", she also shared some methods which can be used to expand business significantly and resulting green product. This significant business expansion reduces the useless usage of resources and also environment-friendly, because this is done without creating environmental damage. "Collaboration between supplier, consumer, and the company itself is needed to make green products," said Enny.

Unilever's General Manager Manufacturing, Agung Rianto (Chemical Engineering 1981) was presented as the second speaker. Agung emphasized that engineers can also contribute in making sustainable living plan by implementing Green Strategy, though their basic knowledge is engineers' knowledge. An engineer can also contribute by using resources from certified suppliers only and reducing the energy and water usage year by year.

"It is everybody's responsibilities to make sustainable living plan," added Enny after Agung had finished his lecture.

After the lecture, the event was continued by sharing with ITB's alumni working in Unilever. Abdul Rahman Siregar (Industrial Engineering), Eka Sugiarto (Chemical Engineering 1991), and Thomas Agus Pamudji (Mechanical Engineering 1986) were attended as speakers.
