Prof. Dr. Ir. Ignatius Pulung Nurprasetio, M.SME., the Dean of SBM ITB, expressed optimism that the Winter School would serve as a platform for students to embrace cultural diversity, forge connections, and expand their networks.

"We aspire for this program to facilitate intercultural understanding and foster enduring friendships between students from both campuses," he remarked.

Colby Hepner, Deputy Director of the Management and Global Strategy Program at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, highlighted SBM ITB's expertise in technology, science, and management as a significant factor in choosing the institution for collaboration.

"The interdisciplinary approach offered by SBM ITB, blending business with social sciences, is invaluable. Through this short program, we aim to provide students with a cross-cultural experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the diverse cultures of different countries," Hepner elaborated.

The event commenced with a traditional tumpeng cutting ceremony followed by a communal meal, setting the stage for camaraderie. Subsequent activities included sessions on Indonesian language and culture.

Students from NYU Tandon School of Engineering expressed their eagerness to deepen their understanding of Indonesian culture and gain insights into sustainability practices in Indonesia.

Monte, one of the participants, articulated his intention to broaden his perspectives and global experience through participation in the Winter School.

"I've come to Indonesia with the aim of expanding my international horizons, gaining new experiences, and building connections with fellow students," Monte shared.

Charles, another student from NYU Tandon School of Engineering, relished the opportunity to explore Indonesia's cultural richness and gain fresh perspectives distinct from those in his home country.

"I relish the opportunity to travel and immerse myself in diverse cultures beyond the confines of the United States," Charles remarked.

Dr. Ira Fachira, the Head of the International Relations Office at SBM ITB, expressed hopes that the Winter School would foster meaningful interactions and friendships among students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
