BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--The COVID-19 pandemic did not diminish the enthusiasm of students of The Joint Preparation Stage (TPB) Faculty of Art and Design (FAD) ITB in 2020. Despite the pandemic, they were still actively and creatively work for their interests and talents. The "Woka Voka" exhibition held on June 10-13, 2020, was proof of their work through the last year's journey.
The exhibition, which means "Farewell Exhibition," was carried out by 261 students, both students from Ganesha Campus and Cirebon Campus, through the official website wokavoka.com and the @wokavoka Instagram account. The TPB FAD students were grouped based on the existing undergraduate programs: Visual Communication Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Crafts, and Visual Arts.
"This exhibition is also an academic exhibition whose grouping was based on the last questionnaire responses. The students who have gone through various mechanisms will enter the study programs within the FAD," said TPB FAD ITB Coordinator Kukuh Rizki Satriaji, S.Ds., M.T., in his remarks at the opening of the exhibition.
Woka Voka was a witness in adapting to always work during this pandemic. "Today, we will see how our students do not complain much. They continue to adapt, get creative, learn, and present the best works in this unique situation," said the Dean of FAD ITB, Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, M.Sn., in his remarks.
This event was divided into three: pre-event, main event, and post-event. In the Pre-Event, there were performance art, webinar, and workshop.
The webinar that themed "Creative Thinking on Daily Basis" presented FAD ITB Lecturer Mrs. Dr. Dwinita Larasati, M.A. On the other side, the workshop entitled "Anything Can Be Anything: From Scratch To Hatch!" was held with the Co-Founder of OMNISPACE, Mr. Erwin Windu Pranata, as the speaker.
In the Main Event, the events were eagerly awaited by the whole community and art lovers. There was the academic exhibition "Woka Voka" and the exhibition of masterpieces from the previous workshop through Instagram stories. A vlogcast (vlog podcast) discussing student activities' collaboration issues during the pandemic was also held with representatives of TPB students from each faculty and school for episode 1 and representatives of FAD ITB students batch 2019 for episode 2. Finally, a live talk show through Instagram with R. Raditya Ardianto Taepoer as co-founder of Design Ethnography Laboratory and alumnus of FAD ITB was held with an "Adaptive and Creative Collaboration" theme.
To close the entire Woka Voka Exhibition, charity became the chosen option. "We specifically choose a community in the Sawangan area, Depok, named Taman Sawangan Ukulele, which is engaged in the arts, as our donation target. We intend to help their needs during this pandemic. The donation form is musical instruments: three ukuleles, five pianos, and one guitar," said Lidwina Zita Dewi as the Chief Executive of the "Woka Voka'' Exhibition when interviewed virtually on Wednesday (19/06/2021) by ITB Public Relations reporter.
This activity was the first step in experiencing the spacious and challenging atmosphere of the art, craft, and design professions. Hopes from all parties became the source of students' enthusiasm to contribute to Indonesia continuously.
"Hopefully, the 'Woka Voka' exhibition can be a place for TPB FAD 2020 and all parties who have visited this exhibition to digitally interact and appreciate each other," Lidwina concluded.
