ITB and Hiroshima University Hold Joint Research Seminar to Strengthen Collaboration

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering (GS-AE), Hiroshima University (HU) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a Joint Research Seminar, in the East Hall, ITB Ganesha Campus, on Wednesday (25/9/2024). This seminar is part of the collaboration between ITB and Hiroshima University, attended by researchers, academics, and students from both countries.

The event was opened by ITB's Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., Prof. Naoto Chatani (Dean of GS-AE HU), Prof. Akihiro Yabuki (Dean of the School of Engineering HU), and Prof. Akimasa Fujiwara (Vice Dean of GS-ASE HU).

The seminar covered various strategic topics, including material engineering, sustainable architecture, and transportation engineering. These topics are not only relevant for academic development but are also very important in addressing global challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, and technological innovation.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Jaka Sembiring stated that this seminar reflects the close partnership between the two institutions, which has continued to grow over the years through various research projects, academic exchanges, and student mobility programs.

He also encouraged participants to take advantage of this opportunity by involving in meaningful discussions, asking questions, and sharing research experiences. According to him, the essence of academic collaboration lies in the ability to listen, learn, and work towards a greater common goal in the future.

"Besides opening a forum to discuss research, let's use this platform to build relationships and friendships that will benefit the institutions and society," he said.

He envisioned even closer collaboration with Hiroshima University in tackling the complex challenges facing the world, while also becoming an example for other universities in Indonesia.

He hopes that this seminar would inspire students and researchers to continue pursuing excellence in their respective fields and recognize the importance of international collaboration in their academic and professional journeys.

Meanwhile, the Dean of GS-ASE at Hiroshima University, Prof. Naoto Chatani, expressed his pride in the organization of the seminar. He emphasized the importance of the ongoing collaboration with ITB, particularly in the academic exchanges that have been taking place for years.

"I hope that the collaboration with ITB in academic exchanges can continue in the future," he said.
