Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., has been appointed as the Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) for the 2025–2030 period, succeeding Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., who served as Rector for the 2020–2025 period.

Before becoming the Rector of ITB, Prof. Tatacipta served as the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) and the Head of the Solid Mechanics and Lightweight Structures Expertise Group. Additionally, he has had a diverse career since 1994, including roles such as Deputy Director of International Relations, Directorate of Partnerships and International Relations ITB (2015–2020), Secretary of the Noble Values Commission, ITB Board of Professors (2017–2019), Chair of the Future Scientific Commission, ITB Board of Professors (2020), Head of the Lightweight Structures Expertise Group FTMD ITB (2019–2023), Expert Council Member of the Mechanical Engineering Chapter, Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) (2024–present), Chair of the Indonesian Engineering Dean Forum (2021–present), among others.

He has received numerous awards, including the National Transportation Figure Award from the Transportation Policy Agency, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (2024), Metro TV’s People of the Year (2021), Scientific Breakthrough Against the Pandemic Award with the Indonesian Ventilator Team, ITB (2021), Distinguished Graduate Award, National Resilience Institute, PPSA XXII (2019), and dozens of other achievements since 1995. To date, he has authored 98 Scopus-indexed papers, with an h-index of 13 and 821 citations, as well as 172 documents on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 19 and 1,337 citations.

The selection process for ITB's Rector for the 2025–2030 term began on September 4, 2024, and concluded with the Board of Trustees (MWA) of ITB appointing Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara as Rector for the 2025–2030 term on November 28, 2024. The appointment was based on the Election and Determination Session conducted by the MWA ITB in Jakarta.
