168 ITB Professors Received the 2022 ITB Research Program Funds

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Since 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world and innovation became the driving key in nurturing national independence and providing solutions for societal necessities. Thus, Institut Teknologi Bandung proposed a 5-year master plan to develop Indonesia’s human resources and technology.

ITB’s research priorities- specified in the ITB Academic Senate's list of regulations- were anticipated to bring significant impacts to Indonesia as well as the world. By building the foundation and direction of the research that supports the best scientific practice, LPPM ITB organized the 2022 Research Program.

168 ITB professors were recipients of this year’s fund allocation. The reveal was publicized on Friday (28/01/2022) via LPPM ITB's Letter regarding the Confirmation of ITB Research Program Fund Recipients in 2022. The letter can be viewed at LLPM ITB’s official website.

The research program consists of 5 categories: Collaborative Research of Top Global Universities, Research on Reinforcing the Capacity of Young Lecturers, Leading Development Research, ITB Leading Research, and ITB Intern Professor Research.

111 professors received the fund for the ITB Leading Research category while 12 were given for the Leading Development Research. The rest of the professors were recipients for the following categories: 26 for the Research on Reinforcing Capacity of Young Professors program; 16 for the Collaborative Research of Top Global Universities; and 3 for the ITB Intern Professor Research program.

In terms of faculty distribution, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has the highest number of recipients (42 professors), followed by the Faculty of Industrial Technology (23 professors), Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (16 professors), School of Life Sciences and Technology (16 professors), Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (12 professors), and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (12 professors).

The list continues with the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (11 professors), School of Pharmacy (11 professors), School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (9 professors), School of Business and Management (8 professors), School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (5 professors) and Faculty of Arts and Design (3 professors).

All faculties that participated in this year's research program are expected to contribute and create diverse topics and research beneficial for many sectors. The research plans are hoped to be carried out smoothly so that they can provide support for science, technology, industry, economy, the arts, culture, and the community.
