2nd Winner of National Outstanding Students Elections: Parent is My Inspiration

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Fauzan Reza Maulana (Civil Engineering 2011) achieved very proudly achievement in prestigious competition for students throughout Indonesia. On Saturday (12/07/14) Ojan, his familiar nickname, awarded title as the Second Winner of National Outstanding Students Elections. This achievement is the result of his struggle since following ITB Outstanding Students Elections. Competing with eleven others candidates from all faculties in ITB, Ojan has been named as the first winner and represent ITB in national level. Brilliantly, Ojan succeeded to make it through round of big fifth teen till big ten and finally, he got the second winner. This man, who had lot of achievements in English Debate, have two special persons who always motivate him to continue to excel, that are his parents; Cahya Maulana and Amalia Ernawaty Maulana.

"Special persons who always inspire me in my achievements are my parent," Ojan said. He always get supporting from his parent till he succeeded achieving myriad of achievements during studying in ITB. Moreover, in following this outstanding student's elections till national level, parent always become his inspiration to keep struggling.

"This National Outstanding Students Election is a good place to develop myself. I want to push myself to keep developing, trying new things, and unleash my potential to contribute for Indonesia," said man who born in Jakarta on October 12, 1993.

Challenges and Supports

To get until round of big fifth teen in national level, technically there are several documents that must be collected; they are scientific paper along with its summary in English, achievements list, and video which describe summary of his paper. Ojan had to face the challenge that is completing necessary documents while preparing for final test. He demanded to manage his time better to make it effective and could complete all requirements on time.

After being big fifth teen in national level selection, Ojan had to follow the next steps. First is the psychology test. Second, there is English proficiency test by giving a speech. Third, Ojan had been interviewed by the committee to verify his ten achievements. Forth is the presentation of his scientific paper in front of the judges.

In going through the process of outstanding students elections, Ojan was supported by peoples around him. "The biggest supports when arrange my scientific paper came from my mentor, that is Mrs. Ayu. Besides that, there are many advices which given by my friends in Civil Students Association," said Ojan.

Happiness is The Real Achievement

"For me, the real achievement is happiness," said Ojan in answering the question about what achievements mean to him. "Title and champion isn't the real achievements for me. As I said before, achievement for me is being happy and happiness itself for me is developing ourselves and also unleashes the potential. Therefore, when I didn't win I am still achiever. So, my tips is don't assume that achievement is only what can be inserted on curriculum vitae," Ojan said.

This man who entered his final year in ITB felt very satisfied with all achievements that he got. However, he still wants to develop himself and find his other potential during college in ITB. "We only live and die to be happy, so be happy," messaged this outstanding student.
