ITB Gave Awards to 11 Figures in the Commemoration of 91 Years Milestone of Engineering Studies

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- In the commemoration of the 91-years since the building of ITB last July in the Campus West Hall, 11 figures were granted awards for their active role in the development of engineering science and its applications in Indonesia. The 11 figures were given the awards based on their loyalty, service, merit, and effort in developing technology for the nation.
The Ganesha Pradjamanggala Bakti Kencana Awards was given to Ir. M. Hatta Rajasa that has served his role in the government as the Coordinating Minister of Transportation during the 2004-2007 government administration, Secretary of the State in 2007-2009, and currently acting as the Coordinating Minister of Finance as well as the Head of the Society of ITB Alumnis. The same award was also granted to Civil Engineering alumni, Ir. H. Djuanda, widely known as the person that pioneered the Djuanda Declaration on 13 December 1957 which addressed the ownership of territorial waters around and between islands which are inseparable to lands and are under the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Ganesha Pradjamanggala Bakti Adiutama Awards was granted to Dr. Ir. Fadel Muhammad as the Minister of Ocean and Fishery Affairs due to his role in the development of fishery technologies in Indonesia. The same awards was granted to Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nuh, the Minister of Education, which has continuously provided active support in the development of engineering studies in Indonesia.

For the Ganesha Cendekia Widya Adiutama, ITB awarded Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso for his extraordinary merits in the development of science and technology, as well as arts. This awards was also given to Prof. V.R. van Romondt, Dutchman, as the key figure that pioneered and developed the Architecture study concentration and curriculum in ITB.

The Ganesha Widya Jasa Adiutama Awards was given to Ir. Henri Maclaine Pont that has laid down the foundations of Architecture science in Indonesia as well as the architect behind the West and East Hall; both seen as key symbols of the campus. The award was also given to Drs. Rudy Soetikno, Apt as the pioneer of Indonesia's pharmaceutical industries, and to Ir. Buntoro Setiomulyo as the person that founded Teknopark Sleman that was behing the building of PT. Mega Andalan Kalasan, a company that manufactures various apparels such as hospital utilities and even two-wheeled vehicles with engine.

An award was also granted to the late Irwan Tirta, a figure in arts that has successfully introduced batik into the world stage and whose works were also worn by important global figures. The same award was given to Susi Pujiastuti that initiated an entrepreneurship awareness and skills among Pangandaran fishermen through the use of quick transportation of sea-commodities by plane and has built an environmentally-friendly fish-processing factory using amoniac instead of freon.
