This institution is an independent institution found in 2004, and has been holding survey and universities' ranking all around the world for every 6 months.

ITB is still rated as the Top 100 Best Universities, both by 4icu.com and webometric.com. The different rank by the two different institutions is obtained by different parameters. Webometric uses "Presence, Impact, Openness, and Exellence" parameter for rating a university. Presence shows the total web pages of the university indexed by Google. For this parameter, ITB has become the best in Indonesia and takes the 178th position among all universities in the world. The parameter impact is measured by the external links guided to the university's web page, while openness shows the amount of files indexed by google scholar. The last parameter, excellence, shows the total international publications based on the data from Scimagojr.com, who rates university's rank based on the papers; amount and quality indexed by SCOPUS.

It can be seen that webometrics' parameters are focused on quality content, while 4icu concerns in popularity. Nevertheless, the results of these 2 institutions have not changed that much. For example, The University of Gajah Mada (UGM), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and University of Indonesia (UI) are ranked as the Top 3 for both pages. The result of this survey is considered as one of parameters of ITB's achievement in objectifying its vision, which is to become a superior, dignified, independent and recognized by the world, and to guide the alteration which can escalate the prosperity of Indonesia and the world.
