BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – In 2017, the number of Professor in ITB increases. Two of those professors are Professor Jessie Sophia Pamudji—a professor in Pharmaceutical from School of Pharmacy—and Professor I Wayan Sengara—a professor in Geotechnical Engineering from Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering—who deliver their academic speeches on Friday (22/12/2017).
On the first session, Prof. Jessie delivered a speech titled “The Role of Pharmaceutical Physics and Bio Pharmaceutics in the Production of Safe and Beneficial Pharmaceutical Preparations”. In her opinion, there are several efforts to enhance the stability of drugs in body, for example microencapsulation, timing for drugs administration, and Nano emulsion for better skin penetration.
Pharmaceutical Physics brings benefit to pharmaceutical preparation. Pharmaceutical Physics aids a pharmacist in predicting the relation between solubility, dissolution, and other Pharmaceutical Physics components with biological characteristics, whereas Bio Pharmaceutical depicts how a specific drug could reach blood circulation under specified amount.
“Pharmaceutical Physics and Bio Pharmaceutical will keep contributing in both now and the future to help finding solution for pharmaceutical industry in specifying active ingredients and formulating the formula,” said Prof. Jessie, concluding her speech.
On the second session, Prof. I Wayan Sengara presented his speech titled “The Role and Application of Geotechnical Modelling to Support Building Design in Indonesia”. He explained that in 2015, infrastructure growth in Indonesia only reach 4.73%, whereas to become a developed country, in 2025 it should already reach 7% contribution to GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
Indonesia needs massive infrastructure development, and it demands support from Geotechnical Engineering to maintain public security and construction cost savings. Development of Geotechnical modelling has given progress, convenience, and acceleration in designing process, so that design optimization could be improved.
