Cultural Night "Colors of The World in One Night", See the World In One Night

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- In the framework of International Day 2009 organized by the International Student Forum (ISF), Saturday (18/04/09), held a cultural night with the theme of "Colors of The World in One Night" . Cultural Night that was took place at ITB East Hall divided into two parts, the presentation and the culture performance from the foreign students who continue their education in ITB such as Malaysia, India, Cambodia, Madagascar, Netherlands, Vietnam, Laos, Japan, and Czech Republic. In addition, not only foreign students who was performed but local students as well also participated to brisk the cultural night.
First performance, Orchestra ITB (ISO) carries the song "Nalik Delman", "Manuk Dadali," and "Burung KakakTua." Then, followed by a presentation about Malaysia by the Malaysian Students. In the slide shown the racial diversity that lives in Malaysia, namely Malay, Kadazan, Bidayah, India, and China. Following the presentation, drama was presented titled "We Are One" by ITB Pharmacy student from Malaysia. Drama recounts the story of couple from the two different races, the Malay race and the India race, who is penalized drowned in the river because inter-ethnic marriage back then violate the local customs. The drama told that back then in Malaysia marriage between two different races is ilegal and Taboo, but now it is no longer valid, the inter-ethnic marriages are allowed.
Then it was showed the presentation about Indonesia from the different perspective. Unusually, Arie (ITB student representative from Indonesia) presented about the meaning of Pancasila philosophy, reveals the 'hidden' attractive tourism places in Indonesia, and positive values that are own by Indonesian. "I'm proud to be Indonesian," said Arie at the end of presentation. The presentation was followed with the Betawi Culture Unit with traditional dance performing named "Sirih Kuning" and traditional art of fighting called "Silat".
Then, it was shown Indian classical music by Indian students. This performance followed by a presentation from Cambodia and dances of Cambodia. Interesting dance with the quick tempo of Madagascar are presented by the Madagascar students. Songs presented by Madagascar students somehow remind us about movie "Madagascar, Escape to Africa". They get a positive response from the audience. "It is consoled," an impression expressed by Rian (Engineering Physics student 2007).
Presentations and culture performance are also presented by students from the Netherlands, Laos, and Czech. Japanese culture is also shown which were participated by Japan Culture Unit (UKJ) ITB with dances.
Culture night closed with the combination dance of the three ethnics in Malaysia.
