Designing, marketing, and Sharing Knowledge about Games

BANDUNG, itb. ac.id - Seminar which was held on Saturday, 4 April 2009 at 09.00-16.00 WIB took place in Multimedia STEI ITB in three sessions with different themes, namely: "Tour de Flex" by Dody Dharma, "Game Development and Industry Potential" by arief Widhiyasa (IF'05), which had won imagineCup 2008 and Aditia Dwi Perdana (IF'05), and "Wikinomics" by Petra Novandi and Hemat Dwi Nuryanto. This seminar is one of a series of events held by Arkavidia Informatics Studentd Association (HMIF) ITB, held on 2-4 April 2009.
The first seminar entitled "The Tour de Flex" aims to introduce new technology, Adobe Flex is currently the more widely used, especially in web-based application. The Software facilitate people in creating the application, both in designing the website and create a simulation.

Second seminar, entitled "Game Development and Industry Potential" presented by Arief Widhiyasa (IF'05), which had won imagineCup 2008 and Aditia Dwi Perdana (IF'05), aims to provide knowledge about how the game development prospects in Indonesia.

Arief and Aditia began to explain the early emergence of game, and how to determine the target market in creating games, and the potential businesses that can show through a game. Game designed by Arief and colleagues working in Agate Studio background in nature, culture, and a diverse society. This is an interesting idea becausen lately game have background in things that smell fictitious and fantasy. When asked about the sustainability of games of their design, Arief said, "We have talked with the Department of Kominfo (Communication and Information) Indonesia. They want to develop our game because they can develop and bring a positive influence for the game players."

In addition, at the third seminar, entitled "Wikinomics", submitted by Petra Novandi and Hemat Dwi Nuryanto, participants gain knowledge about the application of the principles of openness and collaboration with web 2.0 technology, especially in the economic field.

Wikinomics itself is a mass collaboration on the business environment. That is, Wikinomics can be developed through cooperation between companies with a variety of business models, for example: the business model for Paticipation Platform, we opened a product or infrastructure as a platform to create new products. In this case, Petra gave examples such as the Mafia Wars application on Facebook.

The seminar ended with a debriefing session until 16:00 o'clock. Highly enthusiastic visible from participant to respond to this game business. It is expected that the participants inspired to start a business in the game, create interesting games  background in positive things that can improve the moral of generation who is enjoy games.
