Dirjen Dikti Formally Opens Indonesian Robot Competition 2012

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) and Indonesian Intelligent Robot Contest (KRCI) was formally opened on Saturday (30/06/12) in Sasana Budaya Ganesha, Bandung. Directorate General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti), Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, M.Sc formally opened the event. This year, ITB gets the chance to conduct the nationwide robot contest, whose last year's host is Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. This year's KRI-KRCI is attended by 94 teams from 50 tertiary education institutions, competing in four classes: KRI, KRCI fire-fighting, KRCI RoboSoccer Humanoid League (RSHL), and Indonesian Art Robot Contest (KRSI).

The elimination round of KRI-KRCI has been started early in the morning at 07.00. The round is designated for KRI and KRCI RSHL category, and trial I for wheeled and legged KRCI. The opening ceremony was held at 10.00.

Dirjen Dikti hit the gong to sign the opening of KRI-KRCI 2012. Before that, participants from 50 universities held parade and gave opening speeches. "The event aims to proliferate knowledge in the nation," said Djoko in his opening remark. "What we do today contributes to the development of nation's technologies," he added.

After the opening ceremony, the trophies from last year's Indonesian Robot Competition Overall Champion were handed over to this year's host. Toghether with this ceremony, there were three robots performing dances following the musical rhythms.

Summary of KRI-KRCI 2012

KRI-KRCI 2012 which was held at Sasana Budaya Ganesha on 30 Juni - 1 Juli 2012 consisted of four categories: KRI, KRCI fire-fighting, KRCI RSHL, and KRSI. KRCI fire-fighting consisted of two classes: wheeled and legged division. The winner from each category (except for that of the KRSI) gets the chance to participate at international competition is funded by Dirjen Dikti.

The tournament was held for two days. The first day was for the preliminary and group round. The second day was for the elimination and final round, as well as the winner announcement and closing ceremony. Aside from the robot contest, there were also exhibition, stage performance, and culinary festivals.
