BANDUNG-itb.ac.id - The Alumni Association of Institut Teknologi Bandung class of 1982 (IA ITB '82) held an opening event for the Eititu Cafe and Resto, on Friday (19/1/2024), at ITB Ganesha Campus, Bandung.

Eititu brings up a café and restaurant concept with a variety of heavy and light foods choices. The term 'Eititu' is derived from the Indonesian pronunciation of the number '82', which represents their entrance year at ITB.

The representative of IA ITB '82 as well as a lecturer in the Microbial Biotechnology Research Group of the School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH) ITB, Ir. V. Sri Harjati Suhardi, Ph.Dexplained that Eititu had been open since 2019. However, it was forced to close in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of the opening in 2019, Eititu served a western food menus. However, in the first three months after opening, there seemed to be limited interest in western food. Sri also revealed that the ITB academic community generally likes traditional food. Apart from that, as Indonesians, rice is of course the main carbohydrate choice for every full meal.

Taking this into consideration, the entire menu was changed and adjusted accordingly. Eititu also began collaborating with food businesses owned by ITB students and members of IA ITB '82, including Baso Ino.

In 2020, Eititu was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This did not deter the enthusiasm of IA ITB '82 to continue developing this joint business. In 2023, coinciding with this, ITB began granting permits for food business operations at the university. This is also a golden opportunity to bring Eititu back to the ITB academic community.

Finally, at the beginning of 2024, precisely 19 January 2024, Eititu reopened with a new concept.

Sri explained that Eititu ITB will now offer home-cooked dishes. Typical East Javanese food can be found at Eititu at affordable prices. Eititu also collaborates with Kopi Warga and local home business tenants in the Bandung area to enrich  the food menu at Eititu

.In line with Eititu's motto which is also the motto of Class IA ITB '82, "berkawan selamanya" which means “make friends forever”, she hopes that Eititu will become a place to gather and relax amidst the busy schedule. She also revealed that Eititu is open to ITB Alumni who want to hold events there.

“In the dynamics of life, only friendship will last forever. Therefore, Eititu is here to strengthen existing friendships," she said.
