Electrocity 2011: Introduce Electrical Engineering to the Community

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Starting from a dream about a city full of champions who always held changes to the works in the field of electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME) ITB held an event called by Electrocity 2011. The event consists of a technopreneurship seminar and creation exhibition of electrical engineering student. The event was held at Grand Ballroom of Savoy Homann Hotel on Friday (12/02/11). This event is the culmination event of a 62nd anniversary HME ITB. In addition to seminars and exhibitions, there is also door prizes, musical entertainment, and appearance of the Marching Band Waditra Ganesha ITB.

The seminar under the theme "Technopreneur for Better Future" was divided into two sessions and bring in five speakers, namely Adam Ardisasmita (Systems and Information Technology 2008), Sesame Pontus (Electrical Engineering 2006), Hazwan Al-Rashid (Engineering Flight 2007), Budi Rahardjo (PT Indocisc), and Brahmo Saputro (Community Manager KASKUS). The seminar took place parallel with the creation exhibition of electrical engineering student. This exhibition displays works of electrical engineering students and several other works such as robots, ngoprek on the spot, palapa mockups, and radio control.


"Electro, it's everywhere. Get used to it," thus said by Umar Said (Telecommunications Engineering 2008) when he asked about the message of this event. This sentence alone is the slogan of the event, Electrocity 2011. Technopreneurship seminar aims to provide inspiration and tips about the prospects for self-employed with a base of technology and how to start a business and what obstacles may be encountered. Participants who
present in the seminar is also quite enthusiastic look of the questions that arise on the discussion session.

The exhibition itself is meant to introduce the student's works and other electrical works to the public in general and in particular ITB civitas. The entire series of events not only attended by students of electrical engineering clumps, but also from other departments in ITB and even attended also by students from universities other than ITB.

One of the creation that attract enough visitors is hexapod robots, legged robots that have been successful achievements in various robot competitions arena. Besides hexapod, the exhibition also shown Palapa mockups, a community service and development project of HME ITB in the form of  hydro power plant located in Garut, West Java.
