FII 2010: Panel Discussion on Creative Innovation

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- One of the events held as a part of Indonesia Forum of Innovation (FII) 2010 is a panel discussion. Presenting creative industry expert which is the Managing Director of Revolving Fund Organizer Office (LPDB), the ITB Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Office (LPIK) held a panel discussion on Tuesday (12/15/10) in the campus East Hall.
Dedi Wahyudi, staff-lecturer of ITB Design and Fine Arts Faculty (FSRD) have a presentation on the culture and spirit of innovation in Japan. The country has a television program dedicated at showcasing the creative innovations and designs produced by individuals. It also has numerous festivals and national contests pitching creative ideas and innovations against each other in order to motivate them to further hone their skills.
Innovative products made in Japan are, among others, a device that could assist a colorblind person to identify colors and devices to 'translate' dog-barks.
Dedi emphasized how important these events are to push the envelope of innovation.
Sutowo, Managing Director of LPDB, stated that LPDB manages a trust fund that will be trickled down to small and medium enterprises. The office itself is a part of the Ministry of Cooperation and Small and Medium Enterprises (KUKM).
Sutowo emphasized how LPDB does not make return rate a main criteria in providing capital. "If the enterprise has a good track record for the last two years and a positive cash remainder in their operating period, the enterprise has a healthy chance of getting the capital," he said.
