From SWOT Analysis to Detailed Action Plan

The early selection step is an interview. The team that pass basic comprehension selection will then join the interview. Different from usual competence improvement program, the interview was done in team, not individually. Passing teams were proficient in English and has an evenly skill distribution, as each of the team's member will take different position. As many as 28 national teams were successfully pass the interview step and granted rights to join Trust Day at Saturday (21/01/12) at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta. At the Trust Day, all 28 teams were given the Danone expansion program cases. The participants must finish the geographical, operational, human resources, marketing, and social welfare problems.

The competition requires the participants to think strategic as well as operational. The participants were to do Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis. The results were then translated into four strategic directions. The strategic directions were then translated into made into three-year, detailed action plans. All of the plans must have desirable financial benefits.

10 Minutes Presentation, Without Digital Media

From the whole 28 teams, thirteen teams with the highest score were then eligible to join Country Final Trust by Danone, on Wednesday (22/02/12) at Ritz Carlton Hotel, Kuningan, Jakarta. In the Country Final, the teams will present the business plan they made at Trust Day in front of Danone's senior managers.

The interesting thing is, the presentation was to be done without the assisance of any digital media. The participants used only flip charts, HVS papers, folding papers, post-it, and stationery. The media for presentation can not be preapared beforehand, but rather, must be made at the competition's time and site. The teams also can not use tools aside from those provided by the committee. The committee reveals that this is to ensure all participants have equal starting point in presentation tools. What differs them one another was only the verbal delivery skill, analytical thinking skills, and the persuasiveness to convince the judges.

The time given for each presentation is only ten minutes. The teams must summarize all of their concepts and plans in short time. The key to winning the Country Final is the ability to utilize effective words, analytical thinking skills, and the ability to package the idea in simple illustrations.
