BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) will perform offline learning in the first semester of 2021/2022 Academic Year. “The pandemic hasn’t ended yet, health protocols will be the main focus of the offline learning implementation,” said Director of Education Dr. Techn. Ir. Arief Hariyanto in Bandung, Tuesday (18/5/2021).

ITB systematically and carefully prepares offline lectures for the upcoming semester, involving all of the ITB academicians starting on the preparation stage to build a level of awareness and alertness from an early age.

“Students are currently involved in the preparation stage. Representatives of each student union from each major already participated in the preparatory meetings. Non-stop education for students and all of the academicians will be the key to success and security in implementing offline activity in ITB,” he said.

Previously, ITB already performed limited academic activity as a trial phase, which are graduate research, final project research, field lecture in ITB Jatinangor campus, general graduate lecture in ITB Jatinangor campus and performing computer-based exam (UTBK) twice.

Schedule & Strict Health Protocols

ITB itself is processing the course data that will be performed offline on the upcoming first semester of 2021/2022 Academic Year and it is hoped that in early June it can be announced to students so that there will be enough time to prepare themselves. “Scheduling will be arranged to prevent accumulations of students at one time. All of the Faculties will be involved in the schedule arrangement,” explained Dr. Arief.

Offline learning, according to Dr. Arief will be focusing on the activities that are required to be performed face-to-face such as practical work, workshop, studio, field lecture, and big assignment. “14 days protocol quarantine, or Covid-19 test will be the condition for student participation,” he said.

Strict health protocols will also be consistently implemented on offline learning. “All of the ITB facilities will be available, including provision of dormitories, and still with strict health protocols,” said Dr. Arief.

Covid-19 task force that formed in each faculty will be the main supervisor. ITB also continues to coordinate with the city and provincial government, so that the condition of Jawa Barat, especially Bandung city will be well maintained.
