Strating at the End of September, ITB will Try Out a Phased Trial of Offline Lectures

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--In accordance with the Directorate General of Higher Education's intention to open the campus, ITB is going to try out a transitional period of holding offline lectures. The faculty/school, in collaboration with study programs, is constantly preparing to regulate and minimize the risk of Covid-19 spreading.

Offline lectures will be delivered in stages. According to Dr. Arief Hariyanto, Director of Education ITB, 864 students at the Ganesha campus and 148 students at the Jatinangor campus are expected to participate in this offline activity, which will commence at the end of September.

Meanwhile, starting in early October 2021, another batch of 3,419 students will participate in offline academic activities, with 3,229 at the Ganesha campus and 170 at the Jatinangor campus. Finally, offline academic activities are expected to include 1,873 students in November, with 804 students at the Ganesha campus and 647 students at the Jatinangor campus.

This stages are expected to be the transitional period of offline and online lectures which will be further implemented during the Adaptation of New Habits (AKB) phase. As living during the AKB phase has become more controlled, numerous academic activities also attempted to achieve learning outcomes. This transitional period is also intended to prepare ITB community members to adopt new habits on a regular basis.

Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Rector of ITB, indicated that students in need of boarding housing can begin placing orders for October-December term. She also stated that as a sample of the province profile, the majority of ITB students come from DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java.

The transitional period, according to Prof. Jaka Sembiring, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at ITB, will act as an experiment to carry out offline lectures where ongoing group arrangements, supervision, and monitoring of faculty/school must be carried out. For each case, handling and stages have been planned.

Coordination Making

Faculty/school is planning to continue to work collaboratively with all relevant directorates, including the Directorate of Education, the Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure, the Directorate of Student Affairs, the Directorate of Information Systems and Technology, University Health Services, and the ITB Covid-19 Task Force, during this stage of preparation.

During the first semester of Academic Year 2021/2022, the study program has complete control over the deployment of courses based on offline activities, which will primarily focus on laboratory projects, studios, outdoor lectures, and other similar activities. If the academic activity takes the form of lectures, they will be presented in a hybrid format, with some delivered online and some delivered in person. To ensure that health procedures are maintained, the room's maximum capacity will be set to 30% of its normal capacity.

All final project, thesis, and dissertation research activities can be conducted offline after receiving approval from the ITB authorities. Moreover, unless there is a particular condition, the postgraduate presentation must be implemented offline. Activities supervision is exclusively the responsibility of the faculty/school.

ITB will continue to promote this offline lecture activities, particularly in terms of raising awareness within a broader ITB community about the importance of following health procedures. This promotion will make use of all information channels available to faculty/school, the Communication and Public Relations Bureau, the Directorate of Education, the Directorate of Student Affairs, the Amari ITB Team, etc.

Campus Entry Procedure

The procedure for entering the campus for every ITB community members will be supervised in the future by the ITB Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure. Lecturers 55 and older, preferably vaccinated, may be permitted to enter campus to deliver offline lectures.

In general, all members will be asked to answer a questionnaire on the Amari Application before gaining authorization. The faculty/school should also manage permit applications, and if accepted, students and lecturers will be allowed to attend the campus for academic purposes.

Dr. Sonny Yuliar of the ITB Covid 19 Task Force Team concluded by emphasizing that when multiple values conflict and are potentially critical, faculty/school and each study program must always examine and pay close attention.
