ITB and Indonesian Navy Seal Forge Collaboration in Education and Technology

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) had a collaboration agreement with Indonesian Navy Seal and Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Angkatan Laut (STTAL).

The collaboration encompasses the fields of education, research, and community service. Additionally, it also involved the signing of a cooperative agreement between STTAL and ITB’s Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FEST) on CAT-A Hydrographic Surveyor Engineer Program in 2023.

This cooperation aims to enhance the potential and quality of human resources by organizing professional engineering programs. Thus, supporting the improvement of human resource quality and fostering future collaboration networks.

The signing ceremony between ITB and the Navy Seal (TNI AL) was officiated by ITB’s Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M. Eng. and Commander of STTAL, First Admiral Navy Seal, DrDr. Mukhlis, S.T., M.M., CHRMP., CACA., CRMP.

Simultaneously, the signing of the 2023 CAT-A Hydrographic Surveyor Engineer Professional Program Implementation Agreement between FEST ITB and STTAL was done by the Dean of FEST ITB, Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc. and Director of STTAL Postgraduate Development, Marine Colonel (KH), Dr. I Made Jiwa Astika, M.MT. This event was attended by educators from FEST ITB and delegates from STTAL.

The cooperation between ITB and the Indonesian Navy Seal is not something new as ITB has long been entrusted by the Navy Seal in the field of military technology. Prof. Jaka expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in ITB by the Navy Seal and emphasized the commitment to further cooperation in the realms of education and military affairs.

ITB is a university with national contributions and has been recognized internationally. ITB actively seeks collaborations with both internal and external partners to contribute towards national development.

The First Admiral, Dr. Mukhlis, highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Indonesian Navy and ITB. In today’s digital era, military operations are greatly influenced by technology where ITB plays a crucial role in knowledge exchange, especially in the field of technology.

“Nowadays, in battle, not understanding technology would be called getting bullied,” said Dr. Mukhlis

ITB remains open to expanding comprehensive cooperation that can benefit both institutions. ITB’s commitment extends beyond education to encompass research and community service, especially initiatives that can help with the Indonesian military.
