ITB Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa for Sam Bimbo, Nyoman Nuarta and Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--ITB held an Open Session for the Commemoration of the 101st Year of Engineering Higher Education in Indonesia (PTTI) and the awarding of Honorary Doctorates to three national figures, Saturday (3/7/2021), in the West Hall ITB. The awarding of the Honoris Causa (H.C.) title was carried out virtually.
ITB gave the H.C. Doctoral Award to musician Raden Muhamad Samsudin Dajat Hardjakusumah (or who is familiar with the name Sam Bimbo), artist Nyoman Nuarta, and national figure Prof. Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro.
Sam Bimbo received his H.C. Doctorate in Arts and Religion. Candidates are given honorary degrees because of their high achievements and reputations in painting and musical arts through a religious-based approach. The Head of the Promoter Team, Prof. Dr. Setiawan Sabana, conveyed that Sam Bimbo's songs contain high-value and innovative values in arts.
The promoter team for awarding the Honorary Degree to Sam Simbo are as follows:

Nyoman Nuarta also received his H.C. Doctorate as a Culturepreneur figure in the Field of Fine Arts (Sculpture) for the innovations he has made in the development of his sculpture, including a new approach in the language of realistic-figurative forms. Nyoman Nuarta's various pioneering efforts have inspired and encouraged the spirit of artistic entrepreneurship to become a driving force in achieving Indonesia's economic independence through empowering the intellectual capital of the wealth of national arts and cultural identities. He is famous for his monumental sculpture in Bali, namely Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
The Head of the Promoter Team, Prof. Dr. Setiawan Sabana, said that Nyoman Nuarta's thoughts and the development of original and basic concepts have proven beneficial for society, national culture, humanity, science, technology, and art.
"Nyoman Nuarta has made ITB even more proud of the strength of the diversity of ITB alumni in maintaining and raising the honor of ITB. Based on these comprehensive considerations, Nyoman Nuarta is very worthy to get an Honorary Doctorate degree from ITB," he said.

3. Prof. Dr. Ir. Yahdi Zaim (FITB - ITB, Chair of the Special Committee for the awarding of an honorary doctorate to Nyoman Nuarta)
4. Prof. Dr. Dermawan Wibisono (SBM - ITB)
5. Dr. Yannes Martinus Pasaribu, M.Sn. (FSRD - ITB)
6. Dr. Andriyanto Rikrik Kumara, S.Sn., M.Sn. (Dean of FSRD - ITB)
Prof. Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro, S.E., M.U.P., Ph.D., awarded the Doctoral H.C. for his ideas and innovations in Urban and Regional Development Planning. His dedication and contributions are influential in the national and regional development stages in Indonesia.
The Head of the Promoter Team, Prof. Tommy Firman, Ph.D. convey, Prof. Bambang Permadi has devoted his career to the advancement of science and development management and has contributed significantly to the scientific progress of Regional and City Development.
"Based on four aspects, namely Scholarships, Leadership, Achievements and Services, Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro is very worthy to receive an Honorary Doctorate from ITB in the field of Regional and Urban Development," he explained in the ITB Promoter Team's accountability report.
