ITB Became Host of World 18th Conference on Soft Computing

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-On Monday to Friday (1-2/12/14) ITB in cooperation with Stuttgart University became host of online seminar titled "The 18th Online World COnference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications World Wibe Web" (WSC). The seminar--that was held online--was attended by speakers from seventeen countries. "Seventeen similar seminars had been held in universities in Europe and this is the first time such seminar is held in Asian university. It is an honor for ITB to be the webmaster of this seminar", stated Andi Cakravastia, program chairs of the event who cooperated with Bernadetta Kwintiana Ane from Stuttgart university.

 The 18th WSC was opened by Prof. Akhmaloka, chairman of ITB and was continued by greetings from Rajkumar Roy, chairman of World Federation of Soft Computing. The 18th WSC was an international conference that discussed Online Soft Computing in industrial application. This seminar was held in order to build scientific forum that gathers engineers and experts from various backgrounds to discuss and publish information about software development in industrial application.

 The seminar was held in several sessions; keynote speech session, tutorial, paper presentation, invited talk, and special sesion which was attended by professional speakers from university around the world. A special session was held on the fifth day of the online conference. In that session, Burak Omer Saracoglu, representative from Turkey's Research and Development presented topics about Soft Computing Application in energy industry, one of them was titled "Study Case of Fuzzy Logic Modelling for Classifying Investment Choices for Small Hydroelectric Power Plant in Initial Investment Stage"

The seminar was not only attended by speakers and experts. Students and public could access the seminar through streaming facility that was provided on official website of Faculty of Industrial Technology ITB. "Students who are interested in this seminar can just access the available streaming link", said Andi.

"The seminar is expected to broaden people's knowledge about recent development of online soft computing in industrial application. Besides, it is also expected as a way for ITB to build cooperative network to do research in such topic later", stated Andi.
