ITB Commemorate the 91st Year of Youth Pledge

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a flag ceremony to commemorate of Youth Pledge every 28th October at ITB Rectorate Building, Bandung on Monday (28/10/2019). Academicians, students, and staffs of ITB participated in the ceremony.
Rector of ITB Kadarsah Suryadi as the inspector of the ceremony delivered a speech from Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia. The theme of this year’s Youth Pledge commemoration is “Bersatu Kita Maju” or United We Progress”. The theme represent the commitment that was built by the youths in 1928 under their Youth Pledge. With unity, we can realize the nation’s dreams.
“The theme addresses a message for all elements of this nation, and specifically to youth because Indonesia will progress to the better in their hands. Youth who will lead to progressing Indonesia is the youth have character, capacity, innovation, high creativity, independency, inspiring and resilience in facing global challenges,” said Kadarsah.
He continued, that youth in the past broke through primordial sentiments such as racial, religious, and cultural sentiments and moved towards unity. Today’s youth have the task to open their view beyond the border of global modernity in order to welcome better future of the world.
Rector’s Message
Kadarsah also said that Youth Pledge is a momentum to commemorate the service of the forerunners who united Indonesian people, who come from various backgrounds.
He continued that we have to uphold the spirit of Youth Pledge for the unity of Indonesia in digital era. “Congratulations to Indonesian youth, let us move to bright future,” he concluded.
The ceremony was concluded with awarding session given by Directorate of Facilities of ITB to student units that won hygiene competition. The 1st place won by Mathematics Student Union, 2nd place by SBM Student Union, and 3rd place by Environmental Engineering Student Union. Participation award was given to Student Cabinets, Student Affairs, and K3L.
