JAKARTA,- Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is highly committed to the development of science, technology, art, and humanities. For this, institutional development is a part of ITB’s long-term strategy to achieve its vision in accordance with 2006-2025 ITB Development Masterplan (RENIP).
Currently ITB has carried out several multicampus developments, namely ITB Ganesha Campus, ITB Jatinangor Campus, and ITB Cirebon Campus. Not only in three locations, ITB is also committed to expand its multicampus program in Jakarta. Graha Irama Building, 10th and 12th Floor located at HR Rasuna Said St., Jakarta, will be projected to be ITB Jakarta Campus permanently. Takeover of ITB Jakarta Campus has been agreed by ITB Board of Trustees for the development of ITB Jakarta Campus.
The existence of ITB Jakarta Campus will be focused on Regular and Non-Regular Graduate programs. The Regular Graduate program that is being developed is an education cooperation program for both monodisciplinary and multidisciplinary. ITB targets students from professional backgrounds, staff from ministry and governmental institutions that are based in Jakarta and its surrounding area.
ITB gives emphasis on the implementation of Non Regular-Non Title (NR-NG) Master program, so that master students have flexibility in time and place to study before becoming ITB regular master students. For the last 4 semesters, more than 200 students have participated in this NR-NG master program and this number is expected to increase rapidly after the opening of the ITB Jakarta Campus. Based on initial calculation, ITB Jakarta Campus is expected to accommodate the academic activities of around 2000-2500 students per semester.
Several graduate study programs such as Master’s Program in Actuarial Science (FMNS), Master’s Program in Civil Engineering and Master’s Program in Ocean Engineering (FCEE), Master’s Program in Design (FFAD), Master’s Program in Industrial Pharmacy (SF) have prepared academic programs in the ITB Jakarta Campus.
“The uniqueness of ITB Jakarta Campus is that several study programs are implemented with an education collaboration system, such as when ITB cooperates with a Ministry, State-Owned Company, or Private Enterprise. ITB Jakarta Campus is expected to be an axis of cooperation for both its cooperation administration process and its lecture implementation,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., as the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs.
Even though currently ITB already has a multicampus program, but ITB is still committed to provide quality and equal education in all its campuses. However, each campus has its own uniqueness. As explained by Prof. Jaka, the characteristics of ITB Cirebon Campus is a creative campus that support Cirebon’s distinct characteristics, ITB Jatinangor Campus as a green campus, while ITB Jakarta Campus is a downtown campus that focuses on multidisciplinary field of science especially for professionals.
“Facilities of ITB Jakarta Campus are as good and as complete, however facilities of ITB Ganesha Campus and ITB Jatinangor Campus will be ready to provide services to students of ITB Jakarta Campus, especially in providing equipment and testing. ITB holds firm its quality assurance, through the existence of GKM Prodi, from Gugus Kendali Mutu (GKM) at the level of study program and faculty/school, or Satuan Penjaminan Mutu (SPM) at the university level,” said Prof. Jaka.
