ITB Prepares Community Service Learning Program at Nusantara in 2023

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – After the signing of an MoU between ITB and Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) Authority on education, research, and community service regarding construction digitalization, ITB quickly responded with a plan of organizing Community Service Learning (KKN) 2023 at IKN. IKN, whose three-quarters of its area is composed of forests, requires a lot of studies and breakthroughs to create a livable and lovable city.
A visit to IKN that was led by the Rector of ITB Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., and accompanied by Prof. Endah Sulistyawati, Ph.D. (Dean of SLTS), Dr. Sri Maryati (Dean of SAPPD), Dr. Arch. Prasetyo Adhitama (Director of Student Affairs), Deny Willy Junaidy, Ph.D. (Secretary of Institute for Research and Community Service, Division of Community Service), Alfend Rudyawan, Ph.D. (Head of Partnership Management Division), Dr. Epin Saepudin (Head of Sub-Directorate of Student Organizations and Student Achievement Development), Dr. Aos (Agrotechnology and Byproduct Technology Research Group, SLST), and Ferdyansyah, Amd. (Head of Community Service Learning Sub-Division LPPM ITB).
The Community Service Learning program that is being designed by ITB will be aimed at the IKN Region and IKN Development Region in cooperation with the leaders of the IKN Authority and local government.
The aims of this program will be focused on three issues: (1) Tourism development on ex-mining land for tourism in the Kutai Kartanegara Regency in collaboration with PERHAPI, (F-TJSP), and Ex-Mining Land Utilization Task Force (PLTBA); (2) Energy through clean water management; (3) Food security through biological resources utilization training in Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency.
The presentation of the ITB Community Service Learning program in IKN was attended and welcomed enthusiastically by the Head of IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, Ph.D., together with the Deputy of Social, Culture, and Community Empowerment, Drs. Alimudding, M.Si., and the Deputy of Planning and Defence, Mia Amalia, Ph.D., together with directors and leaders, and several members of the Bappenas team.
Based on the result of the discussion and planning of ITB 2023 Community Service Learning, ITB has allocated funds for lecturers and students to actively contribute to the development of IKN. IKN Authority provides opportunities for community service programs in several locations such as the botanical garden, Mentawir seed nursery, educational and social training at Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara, and tourism development at ex-mining land in Kutai Kartanegara. It is planned that by June 2023 teams from IRCS ITB, SAPPD, SLST, and the Directorate of Students Affairs will be able to assign ITB lecturers and students to commence a Community Service Learning program in IKN.
