ITB Strengthens Research with Support from The Asahi Glass Foundation, Encourages Global Innovation

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Directorate of Research and Community Service of Institut Teknologi Bandung (DRPM ITB), in collaboration with The Asahi Glass Foundation, held a Grant Ceremony & Seminar on Research Findings Assisted by The Asahi Glass Foundation on Monday (2/9/2024) at the Multipurpose Hall, CRCS ITB Building, Ganesha Campus, Bandung.

Chairman of DRPM ITB, Dr. Ir. Yuli Setyo Indartono, emphasized ITB's ongoing commitment to strengthening its research endeavors. In his speech, he expressed profound gratitude for the continued support from The Asahi Glass Foundation. "In Indonesia, the three pillars of the Tridharma of Higher Education are education, research, and community service. We are thankful to Asahi for their unwavering support of ITB's research initiatives," he stated.

The support from Asahi is expected to propel ITB's research beyond domestic boundaries, enabling it to compete on a global scale. Dr. Yuli also expressed hope for an increase in the number of research publications from ITB.

"ITB aspires to make broader contributions in technology, science, arts, and humanities on a global level," he added.

The seminar featured presentations of in-depth research conducted by ITB experts. Those research received significant financial support from The Asahi Glass Foundation, which has enabled various innovative scientific studies.

In addition to the seminar, the event included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ITB and The Asahi Glass Foundation. Fourteen ITB researchers were also recognized and awarded by The Asahi Glass Foundation in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to innovative research.

Meanwhile, Senior Executive Director of The Asahi Glass Foundation, Dr. Naoki Sugimoto, underscored the importance of this collaboration. "ITB and Asahi have long supported each other, particularly in advancing technology and sustainability," he remarked.

Since 1988, The Asahi Glass Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of research activities at ITB. Through its international research grant programs, the foundation seeks to promote the advancement of science and technology for the benefit of industry, economics, and society.

With this commitment, ITB and The Asahi Glass Foundation aim to continue contributing to the development of science and technology that benefits not only Indonesia but also the global community.
